Dating back to the 17th century, this collection reflects the life of the Latin community in Galata, and the transformation of the area over the last three centuries. It includes official records as well as documents and notebooks related to the Dominican presence in Istanbul. The cataloguing of the archive is based on the primary inventory compiled by Archpriest Fr. Benedetto Palazzo in 1939 and published in Italian in 2002. While the original documents are preserved by the Archive of the Dominican Monastery in Galata, SALT Research was granted official permission for providing online access.
