Armeno-Turkish editions of Avedaper
The Armeno-Turkish edition of the newspaper Avedaper [The Messenger], produced in Istanbul by the publication department of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) from the 1850s to 1910, primarily contains articles related to Christianity and the Protestant community in the Ottoman Empire’s Anatolian and European provinces. It also covers local and international news and presents items on topics of general knowledge or interest. The AVDAT collection of Avedaper, held by the American Research Institute in Turkey’s (ARIT) American Board Library in Istanbul, includes 43 volumes (1857-9; 1872-83; 1885-1910).
