Fabiato
The archive of the Fabiato family consists primarily of material from the first half of the 20th century, but also include some documents that date back to 1851. These records not only describe the everyday events in Büyükada but also chronicle the intimate world of the family, including what they ate at home, how they furnished their rental houses and how much they spent for the garden. A detailed inventory of their furniture and other household possessions as well as records of their commercial tenants can also be traced through these documents. The collection illustrates the social and economic activities of a Levantine family during the end of the Ottoman Empire and the early years of the Republic.
