Description
Describes the evacuation of many people, both Americans and local Christians, from Merzifon and elsewhere in Turkey to Europe. Describes this in relation to the closing of the Near East Relief endeavor in Merzifon. Also describes the relationship between the Turkish governments desire for education and development and the role the missonaries imagine for their institutions in this process.
Note
Describes excitement on the part of the Turkish government that the Americans will help with development, and that the Americans had been given concessions as opposed to an imperial power.
