Arapça usûl-i kıraat ve kitâbeti tahsilden sonra Cebel-i Lübnan'da Fransızlar tarafından küşâd olunmuş olan Gazir nâm mektebine iki sene devam etmiş ve oradan Paris'e azimetle (Saint Loui) Mekteb-i Âliyesi'ne girmiş ve ulûm-ı riyâziye ve hikmet-i tıbbiye fenlerini tahsil etmiştir. Akhisar Nahiyesi Alperen Mahallesi eşrâfından ve nahiye-i mezkûrenin meclis-i azasından Hacı Osmanzâde Ali Efendi'nin mahdûmu olup 1284 sene-i hicriyesinde nahiye-i mezkûrenin Alperen Mahallesi'nde dünyaya gelmiştir. Nahiye-i mezkûr ibtidâi ve rüşdiyesinde tahsîl ettikten sonra 1297 senesinde Dersaadet'e gelmiş ve Kırkçeşme'de Gazanfer Ağa Medresesi'ne kayd olunarak ulûm-i Arabiye'yi akâide kadar okumuş. 1304'de Dârülmuallimîn Rüşdiye kısmına bi'l-imtihan dahil olup 1308'de vasat derecede şehâdetnâme almıştır.
