Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center opened in 2001 under the name Platform in the current SALT Beyoğlu building on İstiklal Caddesi. Platform organized exhibitions, conferences and events; hosted an international residency program; and maintained a library and archive of contemporary art. The institution ended its exhibition program in 2007, and formally ceased its activities in 2010. In 2008, major renovations and reorganizations were initiated in order to combine elements of Platform's activities with two other cultural entities, Garanti Gallery and the Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Center, under a newly formed institution, SALT. This collection includes documents and photos of exhibitions as well as events organized by Platform.
